Dr Vu Trinh is Lecturer in Accounting and Finance at the Newcastle University Business School (NUBS), Newcastle University. Trinh specialises in the areas of board busyness, CEO leadership, corporate governance, tourism governance and finance, and global financial management. Trinh's publications appear in the world leading and internationally excellent research journals such as Annals of Tourism Research, The European Journal of Finance, International Review of Financial Analysis, Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions and Money, Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, International Journal of Finance and Economics, Global Finance Journal, European Management Journal, among others. Trinh has also several papers submitted to world-leading journals. Dr Trinh has published the first solely-authored book titled "Fundamentals of Board Busyness and corporate governance", in Springer (2022). A recent publication titled "global banking stability in the shadow of Covid-19 outbreak" (2021) is among top the most cited, downloaded and popular articles from Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions and Money since 2018, extracted from Scopus. Trinh's goal is to generate impact studies for society and economies in years to come.

Dr Vu Trinh has obtained his doctoral degree in Finance at Newcastle University (UK). Trinh was awarded a Master’s (MSc) in Global Financial Management with a distinction and he was ranked second in the whole cohort at Northumbria University (UK). Trinh earned a bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Finance & Banking from the University of Economics with first-class honours and top graduates. He had received several international funding, bursaries, scholarships and other awards. Typically, he was awarded the scholarship "SCIC - Fostering young talents 2011", one of the most prestigious awards from State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC) - A strategic investor of the Vietnamese government. This competitive scholarship was only offered to the top 19 most excellent undergraduates across the country.

Dr Vu Trinh is a dedicated educator, who consistently receives excellent and positive student feedback. Trinh has been delivering some lectures for Finance- and Accounting-related modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels at NUBS. Prior to joining NUBS, Trinh worked as a Lecturer in Accounting and Finance at Huddersfield Business School (2019-2020), NUBS (2015-2019), University of Economics and Finance HCM City (2012-2013) and worked as financial manager at the TQT Constructions & Investment Joint Stock Company (2008-2012), and was the founder and managing director of a small start-up in Vietnam. Dr Trinh is the Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), & obtained Higher Education Postgraduate Certificate from Huddersfield University. Trinh is a member of the Society for Financial Studies (SFS), European Accounting Association (EAA) and the European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management (EIASM).
