Abstract

ADAPTATION OF JOB PASSION SCALE TO TURKISH

Year 2023, Volume: 32 Issue: 2, 615 - 629, 23.10.2023

Abstract

The aim of this study is to translate and adapt the Job Passion Scale, which was developed by Vallerand et al. (2003), based on the dualistic model, into Turkish. The job passion scale is measured by two dimensions: harmonious job passion and obsessive job passion. These structures express different types of passion. While harmonious job passion is characterized as the optimum level of internalization of the individual, obsessive fixation means perverted passion. The research was carried out with data collected from a total of 681 employees in two different time periods by survey method. The construct validity, concurrent validity, variance structure and covariance relations of this scale were taken into consideration. In this context, internal consistency tests of the questions were conducted for reliability. Moreover, criterion-dependent validity was demonstrated through the data collected with the turnover intention scale. In addition to these, it was also examined whether the scale differed in terms of gender. Considering all the conducted analyses, satisfactory evidence has been acquired to establish the validity and reliability of the adapted Turkish version of the Job Passion Scale.
