İŞYERİ ORTAM SICAKLIĞININ ÇALIŞANLAR ÜZERİNE PSİKOSOSYAL ETKİLERİ VE KAS İSKELET SİSTEMİ RAHATSIZLIKLARINA ETKİSİ: TÜNEL İNŞAATI ÖRNEĞİ

Abstract

PSYCHOSOCİAL EFFECTS OF WORKPLACE AMBİENT TEMPERATURE ON EMPLOYEES AND ITS EFFECT ON MUSCULOSKELETAL DİSORDERS: TUNNEL CONSTRUCTİON EXAMPLE

Year 2023, Volume: 6 Issue: 2, 96 - 108, 15.08.2023

Abstract

In this study, it is aimed to measure the musculoskeletal and psychosocial effects of workplace ambient temperature on employees in a tunnel construction in Turkey and to present solution policies. In the cross-sectional study, Personal Information Form, Depression-Anxiety-Stress (Dass-21) Scale and Cornell Musculoskeletal Questionnaire (CMDQ) were used. In addition, temperature measurements were made at different locations in the tunnels. In addition, temperature measurements were made at different locations in the tunnels. The sample of the study consisted of 182 employees who met the inclusion criteria and volunteered to participate in the study. Descriptive statistics, Mann Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis tests were used in the analysis of the data. It has been determined that 4 different tunnels are the T1 tunnel with the highest indoor temperature of 26.4°C. All of the employees are male, 37.4% of them work in a hot environment for 8 hours or more and 41.8% of them are uncomfortable with the heat during work. A statistically significant difference was found between the increase in working years at the workplace and the level of stress (P <0.05). A statistically significant difference was observed between the age of the workers and spinal disorders (P <0.05), and between the occupation of the workers and the upper extremity (P <0.05). As a result of the research, it has been proven that the workplace ambient temperature affects the psychosocial status and musculoskeletal disorders of the employees.
