Çokkültürlü eğitim ortamlarında kültürlerarası iletişim ve kültürel zekâ: Kırgızistan üniversite öğrencileri üzerine bir araştırma

Abstract

Günümüz dünyasında yaşanan sosyo-kültürel dönüşümler, kültürlerarası iletişim kavramı etrafındaki tartışma yoğunluğunu sürekli arttırmaktadır. Kültürlerarası karşılaşmalarda, farklı düşünce geleneklerine açık olmanın önemi giderek artarken farklı kültürlere uyum sağlama ve farklı kültürel ortamlarda etkileşim içinde olabilme yeteneğine işaret eden ‘kültürel zekâ’nın rolüne de dikkat çekilmektedir. Kültürel zekâ bireyin çokkültürlü bir ortamda etkin, verimli ve başarılı olmasını sağlayan farkındalık ve yeteneklerine odaklanmaktadır. Kültürel farkındalık ve yetenekler, çokkültürlü bir ülkede demokratik ve diyalojik bir kamsual alanın tesisi açısından belirleyicidir. Bu çalışmada çok kültürlü bir ülke olan Kırgızistan’ın Başkenti Bişkek’te bulunan Cusup Balasagun Kırgız Milli Üniversitesi, Kırgızistan Türkiye Manas Üniversitesi, Kırgızistan Rusya Slovenya Üniversitesi ve Amerikan Üniversitesi öğrencilerinin kültürel zekâ düzeylerinin ölçülmesi hedeflenmektedir. Bu üniversitelerin öğrenci profili Kırgızistan’ın yanı sıra Özbekistan, Kazakistan, Tacikistan, Moğolistan, Çin, Rusya ve Türkiye’den gelen öğrencilerden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada Ang vd. (2007) tarafından geliştirilen ‘Kültürel Zekâ Ölçeği’ (KZÖ) kullanılmakta ve elde edilen veriler çok değişkenli istatistiksel tekniklerle analiz edilmektedir.


Intercultural communication and cultural intelligence in multicultural educational environment: A case on Kyrgyzstan university students

Abstract

The socio-cultural transformations in today's world are continuously increasing the intensity of the debate around the intercultural communication concept. While the importance of being open to different thoughts is gradually increasing, the role of cultural intelligence which points to ability to be adaptable to different cultures and to interact in different cultural environments has cropped up. Cultural intelligence means to focus on individuals’ awareness and abilities to be successful which provides effectiveness, efficiency and success in a multicultural environment. Cultural awareness and skills are decisive in terms of the establishment of a democratic and dialogic public sphere in a multicultural country. This paper aims to survey the cultural intelligence (CQ) level of students of Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn, Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University, Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University and American University in Central Asia in Bishkek. As known, Bishkek is capital of Kyrgyzstan with multinational population. The demographic structure of university students (respondents) composes from citizens of both Kyrgyzstan and other countries like Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Mongolia, China, Russia and Turkey. In this study Cultural Intelligence Scale (CQS) developed by Ang and others (2007) was implemented, and obtained data will be analyzed with multivariate statistical techniques.
