A Theoretical Analysis: Conflict and Terror

Year 2021, Volume: 9 Issue: 2, 354 - 377, 31.07.2021

Abstract

Although it is not new as a concept, terrorism has become one of the most challenging phenomenon of modern history especially, due its very political nature. It is one of the most important challenges to contemporary society, both in terms of security aspects and political consequences. However, there are studies to develop a theory for terrorism, the literature has not yet suggested a strong theory with the potential to understand, and to explain terrorism as a psycho-social phenomenon. The basic aim of this study is to analyze terrorism within the framework of theoretical approaches developed in the field of conflict resolution and peace studies. In this context, the study does not claim to introduce a new theoretical approach, instead it tends to provide a critical perspective on the forms of explanation in existing theories as well as aiming to contribute to the literature on terrorism and counterterrorism.

Bir Kuramsal Analiz: Çatışma ve Terör

Year 2021, Volume: 9 Issue: 2, 354 - 377, 31.07.2021
