The ability of the economy to obtain sufficient financial resources depends on the efficiency of the financial system. The effectiveness of the financial system, on the other hand, depends on many factors such as legal infrastructure, the existence of regulatory/supervisory institutions, as well as the financial knowledge levels of individuals and/or institutions, and their ability to use the financial system. Financial inclusion is particularly important for developing countries. This study examines the level of financial inclusion of households in rural areas. For this purpose, quantitative research method was used in the study. Data were collected from 390 participants in the Oltu district of Erzurum province by face-to-face questionnaire technique. According to the findings of the research, it has been determined that the level of financial access and financial participation is low in the region, and the level of education is an important determinant of this situation. This study is an example of how financial inclusion is perceived in rural areas.
