Peer Review & Ethics

PEER REVIEW PROCESS

Fast Publication: IJSETS guarantees fast and constructive peer-review process of articles and publication in the shortest time.

Blind Peer-Review: All manuscripts submitted to IJSETS undergo double-blind peer-review.

Open Access: The open access policy of the Journal and its existence in mostly used indexes increases the visibility and accessibility of the published content for researchers and high citation rates for the authors.

Main principals of IJSETS (ISSN: 2149-8229) should be listed as;

Step 1: Chief editor and section editor assessment

Peer review follows a number of stages, beginning with submitting your article to a journal. At this first stage, the journal chief editor and section editor will decide if it’s suitable for the journal, asking questions such as:

Section Editor will decide:

·       Has the author followed the journal’s guidelines?

·       Is this the right journal for this article?

Section Editor will decide:

·       Will the journal’s readers find it interesting and useful?

The editor might reject the article immediately, but otherwise, it will move to the next stage, and into peer review.

Step 2: First round of peer review

The section editor will find and contact two other researchers or academics who are experts in your field. They will be asked to read your article and advise the section editor whether to publish your paper in that journal.

So what are they looking for? This depends on the subject area, but they will be checking (Instruction for Reviewers):

·       The manuscript is original or new;

·       The manuscript design and methodology are appropriate and described so that others could replicate what you’ve done;

·       Author(s) has presented your results clearly and appropriately;

·       The manuscript conclusions are reliable and significant;

·       The manuscript is of a high enough standard to be published in the journal.

Author(s)’ll then be given feedback about your article, telling the author(s) if any changes need to be made before it can be published. Our authors tell us that the reviewers’ comments can be extremely helpful, ensuring that the article is of high quality. Please note the final editorial decision on a paper and the choice of who to invite to review is always at the editor’s discretion.

Step 3: Revise and resubmit

Author(s) can then amend his/her article based on the reviewers’ comments, resubmitting it with any or all changes made.

Step 4: Accepted

And that’s it, you’ve made it through peer review. Next stop is production.

Peer review integrity

Every research article published in an IJSETS has been through peer review as outlined in the journal’s aims and scope information; its quality, validity, and relevance assessed by independent peers within the relevant field. We believe in the integrity of peer review, with every journal we publish ascribing to the following statement:

All published research articles in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening, anonymous refereeing by independent expert referees, and consequent revision by article authors when required. The published article constitutes the final, definitive, and citable Version of Scholarly Record.

ETHICS

The International Journal of Sport, Exercise and Training Sciences is committed to the highest standards of research and publication ethics. If ethical misconduct is suspected, the Editorial Board will act in accordance with the relevant international rules of publication ethics (i.e., COPE guidelines, ICMJE Recommendations, CSE White Paper on Publication Ethics, WAME resources, WMA policies and ORI).

An approval of research protocols by an ethics committee in accordance with international agreements (“WMA Declaration of Helsinki - Ethical Principles for Medical Research Involving Human Subjects, October 2013, Fortaleza, Brazil”, "Guide for the care and use of laboratory animals, 8th edition, 2011" and/or “International Guiding Principles for Biomedical Research Involving Animals, 2012”) is required for all research studies.

Authors in such a situation must declare this status on the first page of the manuscript and in the cover letter. (The COPE flowchart is available at: http://publicationethics.org).

PLAGIARISM POLICY

Plagiarism is the most common and serious ethical problem affecting scientific writing. International Journal of Sport, Exercise and Educational Sciences takes many precautions to prevent any form of plagiarism. In accordance with today's policy, studies should not contain plagiarism, and the plagiarism report obtained from Turnitin or iThenticate programs should be uploaded to the system with the study. For the studies to be evaluated, the Turnitin or iThenticate plagiarism report must be 15% or less, excluding the bibliography (including graduate theses). Studies with similarity rates above these rates or without a Turnitin / iThenticate report will be rejected during the preliminary evaluation process. Articles with a similarity rate of more than 15% will be rejected even if they are accepted for publication.
